What a banner flight costs, and why it varies

Airplane banner cost depends on how long the banner is over your target area, the flying to and from the airport, the type of banner, production, photos, the date and the distance from the operator's airport. A FlyVerto quote shows each of these as its own line.

FlyVerto is a broker. We plan the campaign with you, get a written price from an independent operator, coordinate the banner and report what flew. The operator owns the aircraft and flies it.

What drives the price

1. Time over your target, and the flying around it.

Time over target is the time the banner is in the area you asked for. Transit is the flying to get there and back to the airport. Operators often charge for both. Your quote lists them on separate lines, so you can compare one quote with another.

2. Letter banner or printed banner.

A letter banner is a short message made of individual letters. A printed banner is a fabric banner with your colors, logo and artwork. A printed banner has a one-time production cost. A letter banner usually does not.

3. Production once, and repeat flights.

A printed banner is made once. If you fly it again, you are not charged for production a second time. A repair or a remake is its own line. Your quote says who stores the banner. If you plan more than one flight, ask for all of them in the same request so the quote can show them together.

4. Weather.

San Francisco summer fog can sit over the city into late morning or early afternoon (KQED, June 2025). The operator and the pilot decide whether a flight goes. Weather does not add a line to the price, but it shapes the terms: your quote says what happens to the date, the deposit and the banner if a flight cannot go. Flexible dates and times give the operator more room.

5. Photography.

Photos or video of the flight are optional. When you want them, they are their own line, never folded into the flight price.

6. Coordination.

Briefing, artwork approvals, operator communication, and the delivery report are real work. We show that as its own line too.

7. Date, season and distance from the airport.

Operators often price by the day and time you fly, the season, and how far the target is from their airport.

How a FlyVerto quote is laid out

Published prices, for context only

These are not FlyVerto quotes. They are other companies' public price lists, as published on the date shown. They are not San Francisco rates, and none of them says what is included unless noted below.

Aerial Messages (price list checked 2026-10-15)
Booked flight packages for one day, from $2,550 for 2 hours to $10,215 for 9 hours. Two hour minimum.
Fly Sky Ads (price list checked 2026-10-15)
Flight time from $375 to $700 or more per hour, billed from when the banner is picked up at the airport until the plane returns. Printed billboard banners carry a one-time production fee of $1.95 per square foot. Short letter banners carry no assembly fee.
US Air Ads (price list checked 2026-10-15)
General market coverage averages $625 to $925 or more per hour. Flights over events and venues average $1,200 to $3,800 per flight.

Why these numbers do not line up

One company sells booked hours. Another bills from airport pickup to return and charges for the banner separately. A third prices events per flight. A booked hour is not an hour over your target. That is why a list price alone will not tell you what your campaign costs.

What we never promise

Dates, areas and windows are requests until the operator accepts a written quote. What we control, and what the operator controls

Questions about airplane banner cost

How much does an airplane banner cost?

There is no single price. Airplane banner cost depends on time over your target, transit to and from the airport, banner type, production, photography, the date and distance from the airport. FlyVerto shows each one on its own line in a written quote, sent only after an operator has given us a written price.

Are the published prices on this page FlyVerto prices?

No. They are not FlyVerto quotes. They are other companies' public price lists, shown for context with the date each was checked, and they are not San Francisco rates. A FlyVerto price comes only in a written quote, after an operator has priced your campaign.

Why do two quotes for similar banners differ?

Companies bill differently. Some sell booked flight hours. Others bill from pickup at the airport to return. Time over target, the time your banner is in the area you asked for, is not the same as transit, the flying there and back. FlyVerto lists them separately so quotes can be compared.

Is a printed banner more expensive than a letter banner?

A printed banner has a one-time production cost. A letter banner, made of individual letters, usually does not. A FlyVerto quote shows production as its own line.

Do I pay to make the banner again if I fly it a second time?

No. When we store your banner and it flies again unchanged, there is no second production charge. A repair or a remake is its own line in the new quote.

What happens to my money if weather cancels the flight?

The operator decides whether a flight goes. Your written quote states what happens to the date, the deposit and the banner if a flight cannot go, using the operator's own written terms.

Can you tell me how many people will see my banner?

No. FlyVerto does not give audience, view or impression numbers. After the flight you get a delivery report with the date and the times actually flown, the route and time over your target with transit shown separately, photos or video if you bought them, and anything that was not delivered.
